Leon Fleisher

Mr. Fleisher is the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Chair in Piano at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland.He studied with Artur Schnabel. He is the first American winner of a major international competition (Queen Elisabeth of Belgium, 1952). He debuted with New York Philharmonic and Pierre Monteux at age 16 and has been soloist with many international orchestras and festivals throughout U.S.A., Europe, and South America. He has also recorded for Columbia and Sony Classical.He has served as Music Director, Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. Co-artistic Director, Theatre Chamber Players of the Kennedy Center and as Artistic Director, Tanglewood Music Center. Mr. Fleisher is the Andrew W.
